Seoul to build special pet crematorium in 2023 to address soaring demand

SEOUL, Sept 9 (Reuters) – South Korea’s capital, Seoul, will build a dedicated pet crematorium next year, the city government said on Friday, to meet the rising demand from bereaved pet owners. The crematorium, slated to open in the first half of 2023, will be able to incinerate up to 800 pets per year, city officials said. It will be built and operated by a private company yet to be selected. The city said it expects the facility to help ease the burden on existing pet crematoriums, which are often overwhelmed with requests. .
